Step into the first concert of the Florida Wind Band’s Lights Out Chamber Series, where story and sound are spun into something magical. In Woven in the Web, a guest narrator and intimate chamber ensemble bring to life the West African tale of Anansi, the clever spider who dared to ask for the world’s stories. Through daring tricks and quick thinking, Anansi turns impossible challenges into a gift for all humanity. Each note and narrative thread reminds us that stories are meant to be shared, and that sometimes, the smallest voice can change everything.

Dr. Lauren Murray
Tampa, Florida native Lauren Murray enjoys an active career as a recitalist, chamber musician, and educator of oboe and English horn. With trumpeter Robert Murray she is
co-founder of the duo ‘Harmonie del Sur’; their collaboration has brought their
performances around the world and birthed close to twenty new compositions for oboe
and trumpet.
Dr. Murray is thrilled to serve as the Inaugural Executive Director of the Instructional
Performing Arts Center (IPAC) at Pasco Hernando State College. Prior to her time at
PHSC, she served as Music Chair at the Straz Center’s Patel Conservatory and taught
in higher education for over twenty years. Dr. Murray’s students can be found
performing world-wide performing in military bands, Broadway show pit orchestras, and
teaching in the public schools.
