Bay Area Youth (BAY) Winds is Tampa Bay’s premier outlet for outstanding students from Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Hernando counties to perform advanced and collegiate-level music with equally talented and motivated peers. Founded in 2011 by Dr. Matthew McCutchen & The Florida Wind Band, BAY Winds continues to provide exceptional performance opportunities for intermediate and advanced middle school and high school students in tiered wind ensembles.

Membership in BAY Winds is by audition. All ensembles take place each spring and rehearse on Monday evenings at the USF School of Music. Notable guest conductors have included John Carmichael, Samuel Hazo, Michael Sweeney, Quincy Hilliard, Les Hicken, and Florida Wind Band's Artistic Director & Conductor, Dr. Matthew McCutchen.
